About Us

KW Croatian Club is located in Breslau (Woolwich), Ontario, serving as the center of social, cultural and sporting life for the Croats living the Waterloo Region.

The Club is situated in a visually pleasing heritage school house on the crossroads of Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge and Guelph. The property has a large paved parking lot, a soccer pitch, 2 bocce courts, an outdoor bar and a children’s play area.

Members of the KW Croatian Club are the heart and soul of the organization and they currently number more than 160. “Dom” literally means a home and many of our members most definitely feel that they are at home when they come to the Club. Our goal is to pass that feeling onto the younger generations to ensure the longevity and prosperity for the Club and it’s members for generations to come.

We proudly put on events for all our members and friends of the Club throughout the year. Some of most notable events are the two picnics in June and August, bocce tournament in the fall and for the past 2 years an extremely well attended golf tournament. There had been a number of concerts put on at the Club by very well known artists from Croatia; most recently in 2018 we had the honour of hosting Zapresic Boys. They were so pleased with the concert environment that they had said that it was their favourite stop on their North American tour. Scenes which were filmed at the Club in which generations of Croats can be seen singing from the top of their lungs found their way into one of their videos which has made all of us extra proud.

The Club had been hosting soccer viewing parties ever since the Croatian independence. In 2018, the KW Croatian Club hosted a number of World Cup parties while the Croatian national soccer team was making its historic run to the finals. On the day of the finals we hosted hundreds of guests who came to watch the final game on the massive television screen and support their fellow countrymen at that momentous occasion in Croatian history. Guests from the community at large came out as well to share in our success and we are very grateful for that. The tradition of showing soccer games will continue in the future because we all know that it’s more special to share in the new victories with old and new friends.

During the Croatian Homeland War, the Club was the only place where the members were able to watch news reports from Croatia in order to get information on what was happening to their hometowns, families and friends. This was the catalyst for the members to help out selflessly. Many took the little money that they had and sent it back home to help with the defence of the homeland but also for charitable purposes in order to help out the refugees and those who needed help. That charitable thread came to a foray once again when the “once in a lifetime” flood happened in Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina in 2015.

The Club offers two rental halls available for its members and the community at large to celebrate some of the most important occasions in their lives. We have had the honour of hosting everything from weddings to birthdays, religious celebrations, family reunions among many others. The Club is licensed and available for your events with a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink offerings.
