Local Croatian Soccer Club Hrvat

HNNK Hrvat has been around since the mid 1980s and came into existence when the two original clubs Zagreb and Croatia merged. HNNK Hrvat has promoted the local Croatian community across North America participating in the annual Croatian Soccer Tournaments which have been held across Canada and the United States.

Hrvat has also had the honour of hosting the above tournament 3 times, most recently in 2016 which was held in Kitchener’s Budd Park. In 1999, Hrvat won the Croatian Men’s Soccer Tournament in the same year that it was the host Club, making this championship that much sweeter.

For many years HNNK Hrvat has set the standard for quality of soccer and management in the local KDSL soccer league by consistently winning and finishing near the top of the league. For many years the club had two teams (A and B) both of which competed in KDSL’s two divisions.

The club’s accomplishments are many and have come to fruition through a good mix of local (home-grown) players as well as many Croatian immigrant soccer players who came to Canada especially in the 1980s and 1990s.
Hrvat has also competed in the Ontario Cup competitions with a great deal of success reaching the finishing stages of the tournament on a number of occasions.

Croatian pride and God-given talent allowed the Team to reach levels of success that few others could even come close to. Currently HNNK Hrvat competes in the TMSL and as every year it plans to compete in the Croatian North American soccer tournament while continuing to promote the local Croatian community and the KW Croatian Club.
